Disaster Recovery (DR) Centre for an Insurance Company

An insurance company had to document business continuity and disaster recovery tests as required by regulatory audit. Its existing backup system could not provide a documented, tested recovery time.

Solution

Systems were split into three tiers through a business impact analysis. Replication to a DR centre in Ankara was set up for the 180 critical virtual machines, and network, security and identity services were kept ready at the DR site. With routing automation, failover can be done with one click.

Results

• RPO of 5 minutes and RTO of 1 hour verified for critical systems
• The annual live DR drill completes in three hours
• An automatic test report is generated for the audit

Under a three-year operations contract, two drills a year and quarterly restore testing continue.
